Charlie & Jo
St Helen's & St Peter's Church : Wheathampstead
Wedding
Charlie & Jo had a firm idea in mind for their wedding, a village fete theme with a retro feel. This theme fed through the entire idea line from the vintage dress (stunning) to the crockery used and the marquee in a farmers field. The crockery was collected over a whole year, buying pieces as the bride saw them online or in passing shops. It became a family affair with mum and dad joining in as they were on their travels. The mismatch of all sorts worked so beautifully and in the marquee really brought back that forties feeling to the event. The whole thing came together quite brilliantly.
The day itself started at Sopwell House in St Albans for the bridal prep and then onto the church in Wheathampstead near Harpenden. St Helens is 1000-year-old church and is in the Domesday book, a beautiful small church which was brought to life with the village theme by using Hunter wellies at the end of every pugh filled with flowers (see photo below) just fabulous! After the service and some jubilant bell ringing, it was onto the reception just outside the village for what was a beautiful sunny afternoon of welly throwing, coconut shy and many other traditional games.
